How Do We Stop It?

How do we stop it?

Well, it's quite easy when you think about it. There are so many ways! We can: make posters, signs ,websites *blogs*, speeches, telling people about the problem, charity, cut down on meat and products that test on animals, and so much more! The creative ways to save our animals is endless. All we need to do is take action!

Animal Cruelty: Harassment

Harassment

Any form of unwanted, deliberate or offensive behavior, violent or psychological, that has been requested to be stopped. For animals, it is most commonly the physical form of harassment. This is when the owner or a person, physically abuses an animal. The animal will fight back, but usually stands no chance against a human.

Animal Cruelty: Neglect

Neglect

Just like humans, it hurts dearly to be rejected, avoided, ignored, and lonely. Many pets suffer from the lack of love and attention they get from humans. Many animals that cannot stand the pain any longer often die. This usually happens when a pet is being locked in a cage or outside for most of their life. After a while, they get unsocial and become violent and unwanted.

Animal Cruelty: Animal Testing

Animal Testing

Did you know that every year over 100 million animals die in the laboratories of curious scientists? Animal testing is a pathetic excuse to slaughter animals. These inhumane experiments have proven no benefit to humans or animals at all.
Before the animals die, they are usually burned, poisoned, starved, and driven insane. The most common test is called the Draize Test. This is when a bunny’s lower eyelid is pulled back. Technicians then drip shampoo, mascara, nail polish remover, and other toxic chemicals into the rabbit’s eyes where it stays there for up to 21 days, blinding the rabbit. This test is pointless and unrealistic because a human wouldn’t keep harmful liquids in their eyes for three weeks. Another test is called LD50. LD50 stands for Lethal Dose 50. This is when scientists inject Lethal Cleaning Solution into the animal to find out how much it takes to kill them. The “50” in LD50 means that it kills 50 percent of the animals in one group. This test is barbaric and unnecessary. Fortunately there are half a dozen tests being run to replace the Draize and LD50 tests, and now do not involve animals at all.
If you are thinking, “How did they get all those animals?” well, most come from animal shelters, the “Free For A Good Home” ads that you can find in the newspaper, breeders, and worst of all, some animals get stolen from their own front yard! Just imagine, your pet dog being locked up in a cage with 10 or more sick animals, begging for mercy as they press their faces against the cold metal bars.
Medicine and drug tests are most unreliable because a human reacts differently then an animal does. For example, Penicillin: An antibiotic for humans, but if you give penicillin to a guinea pig, it will kill them. Aspirin: Our everyday fever and pain causes birth defects to cats, mice, and other small animals. But, what really irritates me is that 2 to 20 million animals are being killed to provide woman with makeup. And regardless of how safe the product already is to humans, scientists still risk the health of the animals to prove an already proven product safe. Animal testing is not an accurate way to determine the safeness of a product. Do you really think a mouse or a rabbit is the same as a human being?
Animal testing is not only sacrificing millions of animals, it is also very expensive. It costs the American public over 136 million dollars yearly! Just think of where all that money could go to, like homeless shelters, environmental charities, hospitals, and scientists finding ways to stop cancer. Animals are living things just like us. They have equal rights as well, though sometimes we forget that because an animal can’t tell you what they are feeling. So, it’s our choice if we want to save their lives, or take them.
In my opinion, I think that we are becoming desensitized to animal testing. It is happening too much and it’s not fair. It is “Human” a bad title. If we conducted these outrageous experiments on people, there would surely be an end to it. Well, animals deserve to live too, so why aren’t we stopping this? Animal testing is a crime that should not be ignored and mandated by the law. We need to speak up for them now because there will be nearly two hundred and seventy thousand animals dead tomorrow that are not dead now. We can choose to be part of the problem or part of the solution. Animal testing, we need to stop it because it’s gone too far!

Animal Cruelty: Slaughter

Slaughter

Animal Slaughter is killing millions of animals for foods like: meatballs, corn dogs, and other meats and alternatives. Although, we spared the lives of 1569205 cows just today, thanks to our vegetarians. You can also help too! By just trying to cut down on meat and passing on those meatballs, and corndogs, you too can save the lives of many animals! www.peta2.com
